Food was phenomenal. We had beer battered mushrooms, I had the Kentucky burger and my husband had the pork belly sandwich. Both were perfect. Didn't have to wait long at all. The bartender was also our server and she was friendly. I assume the manager asked how our food was. Besides that very little interaction was made with any staff. Place was clean, I didnt see any obvious concerns. Overall, great food for the price. We would recommend this place for the food alone.

very low key hole in the wall but pretty kid friendly. service was kind and quick. food was divided, some great and some just ok. they had little drawing tablets for the kids to play with, lots of drink specials, and even happy hour after 2pm. fried catfish was good!
First time visiting 'The Brown Barrel'. This restaurant was recommended by locals. It didn't disappoint. Nice, neat and orderly. Waitress was patient and made menu recommendations. Great location. Small parking area. After ordering, our food arrived quickly. What we ordered was delicious!! Overall great experience. Other patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves, as well. Will return...
I grew up in Frankfort but I just moved back in the past two years and I have never eaten here. I was bored and just tried it out and I tell you what they have great food. And I will definitely go back. I had the grouper fingers appetizer and fried catfish sandwich and fries. Delicious. Server was nice and that always helps.
Visiting from Florida decided to stop in and have lunch today! I will say overall the food is great! Enjoyed having the Kentucky burger. The manager on duty was so amazing and personable! I think the only downfall is our server did not seem interested at all in serving us, Kinda makes me sad as I work in the business also not sure if it was an off day for her, but definitely give this place a try if you are in the area.
Amazing... I cannot explain how delicious the pork belly sandwich was...Wow!!! Off the chart delicious . And the onion rings...Amazing that they aren't even an option on the menu. This place is incredible. Old school goodness. Props to whomever came up with this incredible sandwich.
Delicious Food!!! Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. My husband got the Kentucky Hot Brown, I got Catfish and Brussel Sprouts, our son got Pork Medallions. Along with two salads and two bourbons, it was a very tasty Friday evening meal. No wait for seating. Food arrived in a timely manner. We parked in the lot across from the History Museum, which was closed.
Our waitress was amazing!! The food was really good and probably some of the best Grouper I've ever had! Nice selection of local beers and quality cocktails. Definitely worth the stop!!
